I was inspired by a minimal Japanese design for a toothbrush stand. I sculpted a version of the toothbrush stand in polymer clay. Since clay can melt a bit, I then froze the clay in the fridge before casting a mold in Composimold. Since the Composimold can melt, I then placed the mold in the freezer and left it overnight. I mixed up a batch of easy cast resin, and used food coloring and glitter too to get Tall Girl Sydney’s favorite color of purple. I poured the resin into the mold cavity, and let that cure up for about 12 hours. I cut the flashing off the base, and pulled the casting out of the mold! It was a success. I followed up by trimming all the flashing off the bottom with a pair of scissors. This casting will be fully cured in about 24 hours time.

ModShapes is about product design and making things. We started out making bespoke stands for vapes.
